Pacifica Kale Detox Deep Cleaning Face Wash

Pacifica Kale Detox Deep Cleaning Face Wash

It started as most purchases do- running into a store for one thing and leaving with something else. Usually in Target. The walk from the front of the store to the pharmacy is filled with beauty, haircare, and dental hygiene.  As soon as I picked up my prescription I passed by the beauty aisles again which always call out to me to JUST BROWSE. Easier said than done. Because 10 minutes and $10 later, I left with a brand new face wash. Confident in Target’s return policy, I didn’t balk at wasting $10 because I knew I could bring the bottle back if I absolutely hated it.

Lucky for me, and not for my wallet, I am in love.

I tend to only write about products I’ve bought and loved or products there’s something so terribly wrong with. I don’t do grey areas.

This is no exception. Admittedly, I don’t invest a lot in face wash. My first true love, my Clarisonic, does all the work for me so the $3 bar of Trader Joe’s soap I’ve been scrubbing down with has done the trick for the past 4+ years.

But everyone deserves a little luxury, and this is my most recent one!

The Product

Pacifica has a nice little display going on in the skincare aisle, and this bottle caught my eye immediately because of it’s color. The seafood green is intended to represent the core kale and seaweed ingredients I presume, which matches the color of the cleanser.

One of the best defenses against blemishes and breakouts is consistently clean skin. Fortified with super green phytonutrients including kale, seaweed and blue seakale along with tropical beneficials of mangosteen and coconut water, this formula is designed to deeply cleanse and remove makeup, toxins and impurities from the skin both day & night.

The Verdict

It has a liquid-gel consistency. A bit slippery but easy to get out of the bottle. It always runs when you open the cap so I've gotten used to quickly opening the cap, squeezing a tiny bit and closing it promptly. It smells really weird and strong at first (I'm scent sensitive) but I've gotten used it and enjoy washing my face with it. It smells like you stuck your head in a green smoothie which might be appealing for some but it's not my thing.

That said, it feels luxurious to rub on my face and go over with the Clarisonic. It's drippy since it's a liquid, so I do my forehead last. When I did my forehead first it would drip into my eyes and burnnn. Now that I've gotten the system down I can say I really enjoy using this cleanser. My skin used to be painfully dry after I stepped out of the shower but now it's pretty soft.

I can't say this has done much for my acne- my skin is about the same now as it was before I started using this. That isn't the cleanser's fault though as my acne is due to hormones and not because I don't wash my face.

Overall, I would say it's a cheap thrill if you're looking to throw a new cleanser into the mix of your skincare routine.
